Medical Massage Therapy

Complete Therapies offers Medical Massage Therapy for adults and children with Autism Spectrum Disorder, Cerebral Palsy, Traumatic Brain Injury, Senior Care Needs, Post-Surgical Rehabilitation, and other specialized care needs. Massage Therapy offers several physical and psychological benefits to individuals, but most notably -- complete relaxation. Medical Massage Therapists use a range of techniques to facilitate relaxation. When these massage techniques are used and applied routinely, individuals will experience physical and psychological relief from chronic pain and improved functionality.

Children with autism or LD can either be hypersensitive or hyposensitive to stimuli (visual, audio, etc.). For example, Autism often means that the individual needs to reach their stimulation threshold to become functional and balanced. Catering to this need for additional stimuli is often provided by an occupational therapist or massage therapist that is qualified as a Special Education practitioner. The act of stroking, tapping, squeezing, and pressing derived from medical massage techniques have been shown to help children with special needs reach the calm and balance they need to function at home, school, and in the community.

Medical Massage Therapy works with the body to improve the physical wellness and quality of life of the patient. Medical Massage Therapy can be done manually or with the assistance of tools that affect healing through pressure and movement. The repeated application of touch can have a significant impact on a patient’s health and sense of well-being. The benefits of receiving regular medical massage include, but not limited to relief of tired/sore muscles, improved flexibility, increased quality of sleep, and reduces stress.
